Room set-up can make a program good or it can make it great. Frequently it is the smaller details that provide the greatest value. Although Martha is willing to work with you in any situation, she offers the following suggestions based on her experiences to increase the energy level in the room and create the greatest value for the audience:

- For audiences that exceed 30 people, a microphone guarantees that everyone can easily hear.
- A lavaliere or handheld microphone lets her use the entire platform and move freely into the audience.
- If it is necessary to have a lectern for announcements for other speakers, have it placed on the far side of the platform so it doesn’t interfere with the audiences’ view of Martha when she is speaking.
- Seats should be placed no more than 5-6 feet from the platform to create a warmer relationship between your audience and Martha.
- Use Chevron seating (outer ends of rows are curved toward the platform) building a warmer and more relaxed atmosphere.
- Have available either a CD player or an additional handheld microphone wired into the sound system for playing music before or after her programs where it is applicable. Martha has an ASCAP license giving her the option of playing copyright approved music.
- A small draped table for water, a clock and miscellaneous items should be placed on a corner of the platform.
